Afghanistan may need external support for security forces to a maximum
of 15 years, President Hamid Karzai told the BBC.
Karzai was in London for a day summit on the future of Afghanistan,
where possible dialogue with moderate Taliban is high on the agenda.
Foreign ministers of 70 countries are expected to tilt back to nation
building in Afghanistan.
The aim of the talks funded by the British, the United Nations and the
Afghan government.
With regard to training and equipping Afghan security forces, 5 to 10
years will be sufficient, said Karzai.
For the maintenance and Afghanistan are financially able, by our forces,
that the time may be extended from 10 to 15 years. Prime Minister
Gordon Brown said British forces are able to withdraw only if the Afghan
forces were strong enough, will the same stability.
He added, however, that all the Taliban must be defeated militarily.

Donor countries should establish a fund to attract members of the
Taliban in Afghan society.
Karzai has received widespread support for the recovery plan, but
Western countries should seek more information on the proposed strategy
for the summit.

The Taliban have responded to messages left by the Conference, a

proposals to combat corruption in Afghanistan.
